Braintan Elk Belt Bag & Fire starting kit A traditional Elk Brain Tanned Belt Bag to hold all your Fire starting gear in. The bag is made from the most beautiful brain tanned Elk I have ever seen or smelled, laced with brain tanned elk and the fringe is buckskin. The bag is lined with blue pillow ticking & has a small brain tanned leather pocket inside! The bag comes complete with a hand-forged striker, forged from spring steel that will throw showers of red hot sparks! A beeswax candle stub & a nice chunk of flint add to the authentic period correct contents of the bag. Also included is everything you need to start a fire in the traditional manner, including cotton char cloth to catch the spark, a small "japaned" tin to keep it in, jute to get the flame & some fatwood splinters to get the fire going! A brain-tanned Moose, garment-weight split bag to keep everything in, with an antler closure rounds out the offer! Dimensions are 6" tall X 7" wide on the belt bag, 2 1/2" X 3" on the Moose hide bag. Unfortunately the picture does not do justice to the beautiful vibrant colors and of course that great smoky scent of the braintan that this bag is made from! Frankly, this is as good as it gets! These kits sell for upwards of 4-500 dollars in some cases, depending on the makers reputation! This kit was modeled after a kit made by Daniel Winkler, Master Bladesmith, but you can't touch his stuff for under $500 dollars. You can take advantage of a relatively unknown maker & get yourself a real bargain here!
